Geir’s not your average sales representative.
Geir Ingolfsrud stands out a colorful character, even in an industry that has a lot of colorful characters. He is an avid swimmer, winning the US National 800 meters Long Course championship in his age group in 2004. He is also an accomplished yacht captain, holding an International Yacht Master Certificate with Ocean Endorsement (this allows him to captain any yacht up to 200 tons, any where.)
In fact, it was in this capacity that he first began with Hal Jones & Co. and later continued with Classic Yachts International. His vast knowledge of real-world seamanship makes him well-qualified to advise his clients who are considering a yacht purchase. Geir has made several transatlantic crossings, as well as sailing his own 22-ft sailboat solo from Norway (his home country) to the Mediterranean.
After studying aircraft engineering in college, he was drawn to the sea. Geir says some of his fondest memories are from when he was the captain of the S.Y. MAYBE, an 85-ft wooden sailboat. This well-known yacht was at one time, years before, owned by Erwin Rommel, the Nazi general.
Geir’s travels have carried him far and wide. By his count, he has been to “at least” 47 countries. His career includes working on an oil supply ship off the west coast of Africa; Caribbean charter captain; Production Superintendent for Toyota in Durban, South Africa and much more.
Today, Geir lives in Fort Lauderdale with his wife, Marva. For relaxation, he enjoys riding his Honda VFR 800 sportbike.
